Aoe2 won't start: venizelos squire running as admin and running in windows 7 mode, nada. so i'm getting kinda desperate, i was thinking about the game all day, got home tonight hoping to find some lost childhood memories only to be left disappointed upatch hd - the unofficial (hd) patch for age of empires: the rise of rome - hd. If age of empires 2 hd wont start or launch on steam, then i maybe have a fix for you for the problem! maybe it won't work for everyone, but i think for many people.. Age of empires ii does not work with vista or windows 7 i have been unable to get age of empires ii to work on my laptop - first with vista and now with windows 7. it installs ok and when you go to launch it the small graphic launch box comes up, then the screen goes phsychedelic before reverting back to normal and nothing more happens..
I just recently got age of empires 2 age of kings and the expansion (conquerors) and they both seemed to have installed fine. but they both don't launch, i went to their shortcuts, properties, compatibility, and then checked off compatibility with windows 7, run in 256 colors, run in 640 x 480 screen resolution.. Age of empires ii: hd edition. it seems like the launcher just won't start, meaning i can't play the game. i already tried verifying the cache, running as admin, reinstalled the game, restarting steam, deleting the cache folder, restoring an older version... it worked the first time, but now it simply won't.. You get into the game's menu, but as soon as you either click to start a campaign, scenario, or even the map editor, the game shuts down. age of empires 2 is compatible with windows 7 64bit. whatever won't display properly because they don't know how to use the new drivers correctly. additionally, i do not recommend multiple.
